In the red corner, competing out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 7 losses; Pelle Paniikki! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 0 losses; Kyro Costa! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Paniikki manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Costa on his heels. He'll look to pass Costa's guard now, I'm sure. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Paniikki (2) vs (0) Costa Paniikki wants to pass the guard but Costa is keeping the position. Paniikki is working hard here to advance position. Costa lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Paniikki (2) vs (2) Costa The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Costa drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Paniikki dives on top into guard. Paniikki knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Paniikki for a finish. Costa has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Paniikki! Can he survive? No! He's out! Costa gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. Paniikki fails with a takedown attempt. Brodie Darrow has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pelle Paniikki. Jab from Darrow. Nice cross by Darrow. Darrow buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Paniikki fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Darrow avoids it really well and circles away. Darrow throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#CL# Darrow clinches with his opponent.

Paniikki takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Binse tries to advance to mount but can't. Paniikki tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Binse wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Paniikki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Binse swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Binse has picked Paniikki up and slammed him! Paniikki can't keep hold of the triangle and Binse manages to pass to side control! The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. #R2# Paniikki throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Binse's waist but Binse gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Paniikki off to one side. Binse went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Paniikki on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Paniikki shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Paniikki circles away from the clinch attempt.
Paniikki has his takedown stuffed and Binse counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Christopher Binse has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pelle Paniikki. Paniikki will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Binse appears to be looking for a big counter. Paniikki changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Binse tries to avoid it but Paniikki manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Binse to the ground. Binse escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Paniikki fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Paniikki shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Binse but Binse pushes him off and we're back to square one. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paniikki gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Binse counters with a head kick. That will keep Paniikki thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Binse displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Paniikki throws out the jab. Paniikki shoots and misses #CL# and Binse moves into the clinch. I was talking to Binse's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Paniikki is breathing heavily. Binse lands a right hand that snaps the head of Paniikki backwards. Binse scores with a shot to the side of Paniikki's head. #ROC# Paniikki is rocked! A shot in the inside from Binse. Paniikki is still on wobbly legs! Can Binse finish him? Binse cracks Paniikki with a nice body shot. A body shot lands from Binse.
