Oliver is the first and only member of the Kota family who has not trained in BJJ. At a young age, he saw his brothers and father locking and rolling on the mat and saw the Kickboxers next door. Kota had no interest at all in learning Jiu Jitsu and went on instead to master the Kickboxing arts. Before landing on the Island, Oliver was the world Featherweight Kickboxing Champion. He has brought Kickboxing in MMA to a whole new level and has thus earned his nickname "The Striker"
