Deep falls off balance throwing a combination
and Rodgers counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Rodgers drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Rodgers slips a jab and a cross from Deep.
A left lands for Rodgers. Rodgers shoots for a double leg takedown but Deep sprawls well. He's pushed Rodgers's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Rodgers fails in his attempt to clinch. Rodgers seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Rodgers blocks a jab. #R1##TD# Excellent takedown into side control there by Mawe. Mawe misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Rodgers is holding Mawe down, trying to stall. Mawe is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rodgers's shoulder. That is not cool. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mawe looks up at the clock and then as Rodgers takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Mawe smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
#SUB# Mawe is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Rodgers is trying to escape and Mawe transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Rodgers is forced to tap! Nice work there by Mawe! Very nice indeed!

Watsz Mawe decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Breznhev lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A clash of legs there as King blocks the low kick.
