The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Garnier working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Garnier lands a few punches from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Garnier scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rumble to see if he's OK. Rumble is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Garnier has just dragged him back down to the mat. Rumble manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Garnier tries to get to full guard but Rumble has control of the leg. Rumble is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Garnier lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVB##SU2# Garnier decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rumble, up you get! Rumble connects with a right that clearly hurt Garnier. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Rumble proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Garnier collapses and taps out under the pressure!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Volkanovski has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Volkanovski throws a punch but it's blocked by Soon. Volkanovski is trying to force a seperation but Soon has the dominant position. Soon blocks an elbow strike from Volkanovski.
Soon is pressed up against the cage. Volkanovski has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Soon down to the mat. Soon avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Soon throws a hook to the side of Volkanovski's head but Volkanovski sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.#CL# Soon gets a clinch. Soon stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Gage drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Gage on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Gage moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Gage is looking to clinch but Ruiz is avoiding it.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Dog! But no joy. Barrier throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Barrier avoids the body shot from Dog.
Dog changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Dog clobbers Barrier with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. #CUT2#It looks like Roger Barrier has been cut.#KD2# Dog sends Barrier crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Dog is motioning to the referee to let Barrier up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!#ROC2#Barrier is rocked! Rasmussen stuffs the takedown attempt from McGavin. McGavin gets slowly back to his feet. #T4# Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. McGavin gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily #CL2# and Rasmussen counters by moving into the clinch. McGavin content to slow the pace in the clinch.
McGavin looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rasmussen. Rasmussen is looking for a takedown up against the cage. McGavin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Rasmussen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rasmussen jumps guard but McGavin turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. McGavin goes for a takedown attempt but Rasmussen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rasmussen lands a nice short elbow. Rasmussen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McGavin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Rasmussen closes the distance and clinches up with McGavin, looking for a takedown. Rasmussen pushes McGavin against the cage but McGavin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. McGavin went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Julian McGavin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! McGavin lands with a short head shot on the inside. Good anti-grappling being displayed by McGavin as Rasmussen tries to tie him up.
