#R1# Banks fails with a takedown attempt. Nice takedown defense from Banks. No joy for Santos on that attempt. Santos closes this distance looking for a takedown but Banks circles away. Santos avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Santos tries to counter with a clinch but Banks shakes him off and moves away. Banks shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Santos as he jumps to the side. Banks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Santos is fending him off so far but Banks persists. Nope, Santos circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddy Banks. That's going to take a lot out of him.#CL# Banks has managed to clinch.
Banks jumps guard but Santos turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santos taking a breather. #TD# Banks ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Banks no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Banks really is a fat lump. Santos is fighting to break Banks's control of his arms but Banks is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Banks throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Santos looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Santos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#T1##ES# Banks is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Santos presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. Banks tries to land knees in the clinch but Santos avoids the damage to the body. Banks fails to pull the fight into his guard.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Banks is defended easily by Santos. Banks fails with a takedown attempt. As Banks backs off Santos throws a huge counter combo but Banks manages to avoid it all. Banks is breathing heavily.#TD2# Santos shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Banks is trying to defend but Santos finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.#ES# Banks makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!#T4# Banks swats away the attempt to clinch by Santos. Santos shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Banks as he jumps to the side. #CL2# Santos forces Banks back against the cage and clinches. Banks jumps guard but Santos stands there with Banks around his waist. Banks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.#BC2# Santos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Banks gets off balance looking for a body kick and Santos counters with a left and a right that stings Banks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Freddy Banks will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. #R2# Santos lands a two punch combo.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Santos has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Banks is proving hard to escape from. #REF3# The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Santos shoots in for a takedown but Banks shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Banks fails to land the takedown. Santos stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Santos wants it to stay on the feet. Joao Santos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Banks tries to close the distance and clinch but Santos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. #T4##CL# Banks clinches. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Banks is stalling in the full guard. Banks tries to free his leg and advance position but Santos is retaining full guard. #T2# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Banks controls from within his opponent's guard. Banks might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Santos wants to stand up but Banks is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Banks trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.#SUB# Banks drops back looking for a leg! Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Santos manages to kick Banks off! Banks jumps back into Santos's guard. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.#T3# Banks tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Santos paws at him with a jab and circles away. Despite the aggression on Santos's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.#TD2# Santos fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Banks sprawls well initially but Santos persists and gets the takedown into half guard. #ES# Banks has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Santos is on him like a limpet, forcing Banks back against the cage. Banks working hard to break the clinch. Santos goes for a takedown attempt but Banks pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!#T4# Santos looking to pass the guard. Santos postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Santos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Banks swivels though and keeps the full guard. Banks is trying to control the position but Santos postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Santos in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. And that's the end of the fight! Freddy Banks showed his dominance in that final round. I think Banks has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
