#R1##TD2# Mahelona closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Bass avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Mahelona. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bass tries to improve position but can't. Mahelona working the strikes but Bass uses the opportunity to regain half guard. Mahelona throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Mahelona really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Bass regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Mahelona. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bass is on top in guard.
#REVR# Mahelona lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.#REVB# Bass is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Mahelona working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Bass could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.#T1# Mahelona landing with the ground and pound. #CUT2# It looks like Bret Bass has been cut. Mahelona scores with a decent looking elbow strike.#ROC2# Bass is rocked!#CUT2# Bret Bass's cut is getting worse. Mahelona stands up over Bass, holding on to his feet. Mahelona throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Bass is out cold! Mahelona lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Kale Mahelona! A very excited looking Kale Mahelona rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.

#R1# Slice misses with a leg kick #TD# and Roman counters with a nice double leg into side control. Slice won't be happy with that. #SUB# Roman thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Roman trying to control the action but Slice is working from the bottom. #SUB# Roman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Slice is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Slice regains half guard. Slice is trying is best to control the position here. #T1##ES2# Slice manages to escape and get back to his feet! Slice throws a sloppy head kick #TD# and Roman counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Slice has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Roman is working away from the top position though. Slice is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Roman's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Roman's back!#SUB2# Slice is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Roman with him. Roman is trying to defend but Slice has an arm under the chin now! Roman grimaces and is forced to tap out!

#R1# Bass takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Bass lands a leg kick that knocks Ivinovich off balance momentarily. Ivinovich scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Bass closes the distance but Ivinovich moves to the side and Ivinovich counters with a lovely straight right hand! Bass takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ivinovich moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.#CUT2# It looks like Bret Bass has been cut.#TD2# Ivinovich manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Bass on his heels. He'll look to pass Bass's guard now, I'm sure. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ivinovich accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Ivinovich throws a strike but Bass rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. #REVR# Ivinovich trying to control the position here. Ivinovich is continuing to stall.#T1# We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ivinovich can do anything to dispel that myth. Bass trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Bass really is a fat lump. Ivinovich looking for a sweep. Not yet Ivinovich, not yet. #T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ivinovich controlling Bass's posture. Bass postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Ivinovich looking to sweep here. No luck so far. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bass wants to clinch but Ivinovich slips to the side and Ivinovich counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. #T3# Bass tries to clinch there but Ivinovich circles away.

Ivinovich seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Bass might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Bass avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ivinovich. Bass on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ivinovich takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Bass regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ivinovich. Ivinovich throws a big right hand that misses. Ivinovich content to stall in guard here. #T4# Ivinovich landing some decent shots from guard. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ivinovich controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Ivinovich throws an elbow that misses. Bass uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ivinovich's guard. Nice move by Bass!#REVR# Ivinovich seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Puppicis fails to pull guard.

Murphy shoots in for a takedown but Roman shows good takedown defense. Horrible takedown attempt by Murphy or perhaps it was just good defense by Roman, which made it look bad. Roman appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Murphy fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Otha Roman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Murphy. Murphy tries to clinch but Roman is having none of it. Roman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Murphy is fending him off so far but Roman persists. Nope, Murphy circles away and we're back to standing. Tony Murphy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Lesnar looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Lesnar fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
