#R1##TD# Lewis tries to sprawl but Marionett drives through with a takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Marionett thows a huge punch but Lewis dodges it nicely.
Marionett knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lewis on the ground. Lewis wants to get back to his feet.
Lewis taking some punishment here, with Marionett in his half guard. Lewis tries to kick Marionett off but Marionett keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Marionett not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Marionett throwing shots but Lewis is blocking nicely. Lewis wants to get back to full guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marionett not landing any meaningful shots this time. Lewis wants to improve his position but Marionett is controlling well.
Marionett content to control rather than advance. #T1# Lewis tries to kick Marionett off but Marionett keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Lewis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Marionett. Marionett prevents Lewis from improving his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Marionett working over Lewis with some ground and pound. Lewis looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Marionett is thwarting Lewis's attempts to control the position. Marionett working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. #T2# The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lewis is trying to stand.
Lewis is looking to control Marionett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lewis avoid being mounted? Marionett lands with a punch from half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Marionett connects with a nice short shot to Lewis's temple. Lewis is trying to maintain the position but Marionett is very close to passing his half guard. Marionett is looking to advance position but Lewis won't allow it. Marionett is nestled in close to Lewis, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Marionett controlling the action here.#T3# The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Marionett not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Lewis is looking to control Marionett's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lewis avoid being mounted? Lewis has hold of Marionett's hands but Marionett slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Marionett is looking to take a break and control but Lewis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lewis punching from the bottom.
Marionett thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lewis's head. #T4# The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.#SUB2# Lewis looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lewis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Marionett is working away from the top position though.#REF3# The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Lewis shoots and misses and Marionett counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Lewis throws a sloppy head kick and Marionett moves out of range easily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Lewis takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lewis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Marionett paws at him with a jab and circles away. A little feinted left hand from Marionett on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Lewis doesn't succeed with the takedown and Marionett counters with a nice uppercut. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mario Marionett dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. #R2# Marionett rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lewis moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Lewis throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Marionett counters with a series of strikes. Lewis will be more careful next time no doubt. #TD# Lewis gets caught flat footed, as Marionett shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Marionett landing some decent shots from guard. Marionett lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Lewis trying to keep a closed guard but Marionett is proving a slippery customer.
Marionett trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Marionett lands a couple of digs. Lewis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Marionett is controlling him. #T1# Marionett working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. #SUB2# Lewis looking for a triangle here. Marionett is fighting it but it looks tight! Lewis pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Marionett is tapping out - this one is all over!
