#R1# Rudolf misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
It looked like Vargas was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Vargas could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.#CL2# Rudolf closes the distance and pushes Vargas back into the cage.#TD2# Rudolf ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rudolf no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. #SUB2# Rudolf throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Vargas escapes and throws Rudolf's legs to the side, diving into side control! Vargas in side control, throwing shots but Rudolf defends. Vargas in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Rudolf tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Vargas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rudolf avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Vargas. Rudolf parries the strikes from Vargas easily there. Vargas is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rudolf to escape.

Rudolf tries to bench press Vargas off him but Vargas keeps the position. Vargas in side control, throwing shots but Rudolf defends. Vargas misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Rudolf wants to get back to his feet but Vargas drags him back down. Rudolf tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Vargas easily slips into full mount! Vargas with good strikes from the mount here! Rudolf is trying desperately to improve position.#T2##SUB# Vargas working for a submission but Rudolf is keeping him at bay. Vargas dominating with strikes here. Vargas is landing with some decent strikes but Rudolf is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Rudolf tries to lock up and control but Vargas gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Rudolf is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
This has been an exciting period of action! Rudolf is trying desperately to improve position. Rudolf's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. #T3# Rudolf takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Rudolf is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Rudolf wants to hold on but Vargas pushes him away. Vargas with the ground and pound from mount. Vargas dominating with strikes here. Vargas avoids the attempt from Rudolf to control. Rudolf tries to reverse the position but Vargas maintains control. Rudolf looks winded! Vargas is in the full mount, landing strikes. #T4# Rudolf throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Vargas landing strikes from the mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rudolf is in a horrible position here. Vargas smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Vargas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Vargas lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Rudolf hang on? Vargas looking to finish Rudolf with some ground and pound. This is bad for Rudolf! Vargas landing shots from mount. #ROC# Rudolf is rocked!#SUB# Vargas moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Rudolf has worked his arm free - good work by Rudolf!
Vargas scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Rudolf to see if he's OK. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Leif Vargas dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action! #R2##TD2# A momentary lapse in concentration from Vargas enables Rudolf to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Vargas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Vargas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rudolf wanted to stand there but Vargas had control of the position. Vargas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Rudolf trying to control but Vargas is working from the bottom. Rudolf looking to sit in guard and control but Vargas gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. #REVR# Rudolf is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Vargas scores with a couple of good hammerfists. The fighters are battling for position here. Rudolf manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Rudolf is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Vargas throws an elbow that misses. Rudolf uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vargas's guard. Nice move by Rudolf!#REVB# Rudolf is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.#T3##SUB# Rudolf stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Vargas throws up his legs and catches Rudolf in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Rudolf tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Vargas! That came out of nowhere!
