#R1# Petersen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Petersen wants it to stay on the feet. Thompson looks for a takedown but Petersen sprawls well. Petersen seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Thompson tries a head kick but it misses.
Petersen drops down looking for a counter takedown but Thompson sprawls and moves away. Petersen throws a right and a left that Thompson avoids nicely. And Thompson tries to counter it with a takedown but Petersen pushes his down on his head and steps out. Thompson shoots in for a takedown but Petersen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Ellsworth Petersen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson Thompson. Thompson darts in looking for a takedown but Petersen gets double underhooks and turns Thompson into the cage. #TD# Thompson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.#ES2# Thompson pushes Petersen off and scrambles back to his feet.

Thompson shoots for a double leg takedown but Petersen sprawls well. He's pushed Thompson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Petersen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Thompson sprawls well. Thompson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Petersen gets slowly back to his feet.#CL2# Thompson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. #TD2# Thompson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. Thompson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Petersen scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Petersen trying to control the position from guard on top but Thompson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Petersen working some strikes from top position. Thompson wants to improve his position but instead Petersen has moved into half guard.

Thompson avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Petersen. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ellsworth Petersen will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! #R2# Thompson misses with an uppercut

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Petersen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.#T1# Petersen wants to take a breather but Thompson is having none of it. It looks like Petersen is going to stand back up.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Petersen is looking to work some ground and pound but Thompson has wrist control. Thompson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Thompson tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Ellsworth Petersen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Petersen is in the full mount, landing strikes. Petersen avoids the attempt from Thompson to control. Thompson is bucking up trying to escape but Petersen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.#T4# Thompson taking shots to the head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Petersen just misses with a elbow thrown towards Thompson's brow. #TD# Petersen manages to pull guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Thompson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Petersen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Thompson is controlling him. Petersen wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Thompson manages to pass to side control. Thompson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Petersen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#T1# Petersen connecting with a few gentle strikes. Petersen pushes Thompson off looking to stand but Thompson dives back in and keeps control.

#REF3# The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.#CL2# Thompson pushes Petersen up against the cage in a clinch. Petersen keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Thompson's efforts to push away. Petersen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Petersen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Thompson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Petersen is trying hard to land a takedown here. Thompson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. As Petersen backs off Thompson throws a huge counter combo but Petersen manages to avoid it all. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ellsworth Petersen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Thompson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Petersen circles away quickly and effectively. Thompson tries to clinch but Petersen is having none of it. Petersen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.#T3# Thompson shoots in and drives through. Petersen sprawls well. Thompson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Thompson is looking to score with low kicks.#TD# Petersen looking to score a takedown here. Thompson is defending well but Petersen drives through and ends up in Thompson's guard. Thompson looking to control.

Petersen scores with a decent looking elbow strike.#SUB2# Thompson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Petersen is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Thompson. Thompson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Petersen asserts his dominance and retains side control.#T4# Thompson being controlled for a moment. Petersen lands some shots froms side control. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!#SU# Petersen stands up and beckons Thompson to his feet.
And that's the end of the fight! Ellsworth Petersen showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Petersen, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
