This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 3 losses; Billy Turturro! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 2 losses; Akhmedov Nurmagedov! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Tiny Johnson.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.#CL# Nurmagedov tries to keep at a distance but Turturro has taken the fight into the clinch. Nurmagedov tries to pull guard but Turturro holds him up against the ropes and eventually Nurmagedov drops back down to his feet.
Turturro has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Turturro goes for a takedown attempt but Nurmagedov pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

#R1# Finale looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Crawley is fending him off so far but Finale persists. Nope, Crawley circles away and we're back to standing. Crawley lands a jab to the head.
Finale will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Crawley is looking to counter punch. Finale shoots for a double leg takedown but Crawley sprawls well. He's pushed Finale's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Crawley moves out of range of the strikes. Finale falls off balance throwing a combination
and Crawley counters with a nice body shot. Finale misses with a takedown and Crawley counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Billy Crawley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Grande Finale. Finale looks winded! Jay goes for a double leg but Juada avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Juada continues to drive forward. Jay tries to score a body lock takedown but Juada shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Jay drops down looking for an ankle pick but Juada pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tim Jay. That's going to take a lot out of him.#TD# Jay bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Juada tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Jay wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Juada can't do much from the bottom here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Juada can do anything to dispel that myth. We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Seech has eaten all the pies! Alves throws an overhand right that lands on Seech's shoulder, as Seech tries to avoid the shot. Alves throws a lazy right hand but Seech sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.#TD# Alves bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The referee asks Alves politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Alves prefers to stall for the moment though. Seech is looking for a sweep. Alves is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Seech tries to improve position but can't. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. A head kick misses from Monsta. Finlayson stuffs the takedown attempt from Cross. Cross gets slowly back to his feet. Cross moves in looking to clinch but Finlayson pushes him off. It seemed like Finlayson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. The fight stays on the outside here - Cross looks like he's thinking about clinching though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Finlayson lands a nice shot that snaps Cross's head back.
