#R1# Friend shoots in and drives through. King sprawls well. Friend throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around King's waist but King gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Friend off to one side. King with a jab. Friend takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. King cracks Friend with a right hand to the side of the head. Friend shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has King pinned against the cage. King gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Rodney King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thomas Friend. Friend has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from King finds it's way round the side to connect with Friend's head. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. King lands the left hand. Rodney King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Friend shoots in but no luck this time. A jab from King does it's job there. It looked like King wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. King uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. King throws out a loose jab but Friend uses good head movement to avoid it. King stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and King wants it to stay on the feet. Friend takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
King scores with a crisp jab that stopped Friend in his tracks. King slaps away a takedown attempt from Friend, before circling back to the center of the mat. A little feinted left hand from King on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Friend looks winded! King works the jab nicely. Nice uppercut there from King. Friend gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Friend takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Friend moves away from the strike by King. A slow jab from King misses its intended target. King lands with a right hand. #T3# King connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Friend momentarily.

Friend's hands are dropping dangerously low here and King connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Friend scrambles back to his feet. Rodney King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. King digs a good hook to Friend's body.

King misses with a straight left. Friend lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. King throws a hook but Friend blocks it. King obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Friend tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but King paws at him with a jab and circles away. Friend goes for a double leg but King avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as King continues to drive forward. Friend ducks right into an uppercut from King. King is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. King scores with a nice strike. Friend bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Friend throws a counter combo. A jab from King does it's job there. King lands a glancing blow to the side of Friend's head. King lands a jab to the head.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. King loads up on a big right hand but Friend slips the punch. Friend drops down looking to force a counter takedown but King defends it well. Friend is trying desperately to land a takedown but King is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Friend. King lands a nice shot to the body.

Gonzalez throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Gonzalez thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!#ROC# Torrent is rocked! Gonzalez cracks Torrent's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Torrent slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Gonzalez can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Hudson with a lazy takedown attempt and Friend counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hudson thinking. Hudson misses with a takedown and Friend counters with a three punch combo that has Hudson backing up. Hudson nods at Friend to acknowledge the strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hudson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Quinton Hudson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hudson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Friend is fending him off so far but Hudson persists. Nope, Friend circles away and we're back to standing. #R1# Goodman goes for a double leg but Gonzalez avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gonzalez continues to drive forward. Goodman darts in looking for a takedown but Gonzalez gets double underhooks and turns Goodman into the cage. Goodman fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Palmer Goodman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Goodman thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Gonzalez if he has to take too many more of those.
Nice sprawl there from Gonzalez as Goodman shoots in. Gonzalez lands with a big left! Goodman is wobbled badly! Gonzalez comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Goodman to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.

Hunt gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Friend takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hunt wants to hold on but Friend pushes him away.#T1# Friend tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Friend raining down shots from the mount! Hunt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Friend on the ground.#SUB2# Hunt is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Haynes moves out of range of the body kick. Haynes fails with the takedown. Gonzalez connects with a body shot that sends Haynes's belly button to the back. Gonzalez throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Haynes. Gonzalez stuffs the takedown attempt from Haynes. Haynes gets slowly back to his feet. #T4# Gonzalez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Haynes drops down looking for a counter takedown but Gonzalez sprawls and moves away. Gonzalez misses with a leg kick and Haynes counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Gonzalez is lucky that one didn't land flush. #CL2# Gonzalez has managed to clinch.

#R1##TD# Vargas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.#ES2# Chang kicks off Vargas and gets to his feet. Vargas dives in for a single leg takedown but Chang sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.#TD2# Chang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Vargas is looking to stand back up but Chang counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Vargas. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!#REVR# We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.#SUB2# Chang is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Zhen Chang! Zhen Chang was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
