#R1# Jonas tries to close the distance and clinch but Ion swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A clash of legs there as Ion blocks the low kick. Ion misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Micut Ion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A slow jab from Jonas misses its intended target. Ion will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
#TD# Ion closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jonas's guard. Ion works a leg free and moves into half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ion content to control rather than advance. Ion landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. #T1# Ion sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ion is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jonas! #SUB# Ion is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Ion extends the arm and Jonas is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Micut Ion!

#R1##TD2# Vasile scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. DeNiro manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#SUB# DeNiro is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vasile is just riding it out for now. DeNiro eventually gives up the hold. DeNiro is thwarting Vasile's attempts to control the position. Vasile is looking to improve his position.
#SUB# DeNiro is working for a kimura but Vasile is defending it quite comfortably.
Vasile wants to control but DeNiro is keeping busy and won't allow it. Vasile tries to roll over but DeNiro keeps him under control. DeNiro uses his free foot to push down on Vasile's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Vasile. #T1# Vasile is in all sorts of trouble here.
#SUB# DeNiro goes for an armbar but Vasile turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Vasile. DeNiro keeping moving, preventing Vasile from controlling successfully. #SUB# DeNiro looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
#SUB# DeNiro has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Vasile should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, DeNiro has tightened it up now! Vasile should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Zakwon DeNiro! Zakwon DeNiro bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
