The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barnes wants to get back to his feet but Alfredo is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Barnes pulls Alfredo in close to prevent any damage. Barnes really is a fat lump. Alfredo stopping the sweep attempt from Barnes. Barnes striking off his back but it's not causing Alfredo any problems. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alfredo lands a couple of digs. Barnes tries to land a sweep but no joy. Barnes really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill... Alfredo's corner is telling him to maintain position. Barnes is trying to hold Alfredo in close to prevent damage but Alfredo has managed to pass into half guard.

Rinch is looking to control Guthrie's arms but Guthrie gets an underhook and turns him. Now Rinch has his back to the cage. Rinch working hard to break the clinch. Guthrie can't break the clinch.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Guthrie gets to mount! ODowd was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Guthrie postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. ODowd looks a forlorn figure.

#R1# Trout rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cruz moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Trout looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Cruz tries to clinch up.#TD# Cruz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Trout's guard. Cruz lands a couple of decent looking shots. Cruz scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Cruz postures up and lands a big shot to Trout's brow. Trout is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. #SU# Cruz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Trout misses with a double jab.
It looked like Cruz was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. A head kick misses from Trout. #TD# Cruz drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Trout is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Cruz dives into side control.

Barnes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Barnes takes a kick to the side of the head. Barnes scores with a head kick.
Barnes tries to clinch and Cruz counters with a three punch combo that has Barnes backing up. Barnes nods at Cruz to acknowledge the strikes.#TD2# Barnes gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cruz to score an easy takedown into full guard.
