Yamasaki unleashes a big counter combination but Maidana bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Yamasaki has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Maidana tries to score with a low kick but Yamasaki moves his leg out of the way. Yamasaki doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Maidana gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Aite scores with an uppercut up the middle. Aite scores with a nice hook to the head. Ware is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Aite pulls him back up using the underhooks. Aite tries to work over Ware's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Ware fails to pull guard.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Aite takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Ware changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Aite fights it off and pushes away nicely.

#R1##CL2# Luiz gets in close and instigates a clinch. #TD2# Luiz gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Clark tries to kick Luiz off in order to stand up. Luiz Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. #SUB2# Luiz goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Clark has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Luiz but great work by Clark. Clark remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Luiz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Clark has just dragged him back down to the mat. Sloppy strikes there by Clark. Luiz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Luiz can do anything to dispel that myth.#T1# Luiz is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Clark is one step ahead and moves to full mount! That was a close second round but I would say that Carmelo Clark will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
