Gomez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. A quick step to the side and Jones tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Gomez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Gomez. Gomez misses with a telegraphed body shot
letting Jones counter with a right hand. Pablito Gomez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gomez tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance. Baier looking to pass the guard. Baier prevents Hughes from getting back to his feet. Baier passes into half guard. Baier moves into full mount! Hughes won't be happy about that! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#SUB2# Baier working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Hughes is trying to stand but he's just given Baier his back.#T1##SUB2# Baier is cranking Hughes's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Hughes! He's tightened the choke and Hughes is tapping out!

Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with St John but St John pushes him off and we're back to square one. St John misses with an uppercut. Jones saw that one coming.#T1# Jones tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. St John manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. #R1# Tipitapa lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
#CUT# It looks like Jimmy Braveheart has been cut. Tipitapa changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Braveheart throws a hook to the side of Tipitapa's head but Tipitapa sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. A decent looking cross lands there for Tipitapa. Tipitapa scores with a hook to the body. Braveheart takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. A jab from Tipitapa finds it's way through Braveheart's defenses. Braveheart has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Jadman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. LeDon Jadman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jadman scores with a jab. Braveheart moves out of range as Jadman strikes. Braveheart takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Braveheart avoids the body shot from Jadman.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bear working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. The Great is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Bear dives into side control.

Damn!#SUB2# Bear looking for a guillotine from mount but The Great is having none of it. The Great on his back here. Bear controlling from the full mount. Let's hope that Bear has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Matveev jabs.
