Cooke content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Cooke scoring with punches to the head and body. Cooke throws a big right hand that misses. Shao wants to stand and escape but Cooke is having none of it. #ES2# The fighters are working up against the cage. Shao manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. He's got his arms around Cooke's waist but Cooke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Laffer off to one side. Cooke closes this distance looking for a takedown but Laffer circles away. Laffer changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Beard manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Beard not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Odom throwing strikes but missing. Odom lands a couple of digs. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Odom working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Billy Odom has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tyler Beard is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Odom cracks Beard with a solid left hand.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Billy Odom. Well Beard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. The Giant throws a head kick that misses #TD# so Farrell counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The Giant wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Farrell manages to pass to side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#REVB# The Giant is trying to stand.
Farrell looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Farrell connects with a nice short shot to The Giant's temple. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Giant has hold of Farrell's hands but Farrell slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Farrell lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The Giant is looking to control Farrell's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can The Giant avoid being mounted?#T1# Farrell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks The Giant with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. #SUB# Farrell seems to be working for a kimura but The Giant defends the submission attempt. The Giant is looking for a sweep. Farrell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.#SUB# Farrell is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so The Giant is just riding it out for now. Farrell eventually gives up the hold. Farrell could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Farrell is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. #T2# The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Farrell wants to stand up but The Giant has a hold of him and won't allow it. The Giant tries to kick Farrell off but Farrell keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. The Giant wants to get back to full guard but Farrell has mounted him!#SUB# Farrell looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Farrell lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
#SUB# Farrell is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Farrell!
