Patterson tries for a takedown but Gruesome sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Patterson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gruesome swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Patterson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Gruesome defends well and Patterson ends up having to push Gruesome into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Gruesome has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Patterson uses from the top position.

Gruesome fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Patterson sprawls well initially but Gruesome persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Gruesome misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Patterson's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gruesome connects with a nice short shot to Patterson's temple.
