Ulster manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ulster looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Vincent shoots in for a takedown but Ulster shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Vincent on the wrong end of a nice jab. Vincent ducks under a wild hook from Ulster. Vincent avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Dixon Ulster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vincent shoots in and drives through. Ulster sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Porter Vincent. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ulster with a body punch. A glancing blow. A decent looking body kick lands there for Ulster. Simpson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Newman won't allow Simpson to get back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Newman trying to move into half guard but instead Simpson has managed to sweep!#REVR# A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Simpson accidentally thumps the mat. Ruth misses with a takedown and Makres counters with a right hand to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Ruth. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Makres keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Makres throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ruth. Makres has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Makres goes for a small jab and connects. Now Makres goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Ruth stumbles back but Makres runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Ruth to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Ruth will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

Clinched against the cage, Kristo lands a big elbow that drops Ruth! The ref dives in to save him from more shots - Ruth is complaining that he's OK but he was done.

Hunlin tries to roll over but Shakhbulatov keeps him under control.#SUB# Shakhbulatov is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Shakhbulatov working the head and body with strikes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hunlin wants to get back to full guard. Shakhbulatov takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Shakhbulatov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shakhbulatov is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Fry wants to take the fight to the mat but Hunlin manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Hunlin dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Hunlin leaning his opponent against the cage. Fry is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hunlin is defending well. Fry drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hunlin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Christopher Fry. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fry missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Hunlin wants to get back to his feet. Fry lands strikes from half guard. Fry passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Hunlin! Fry lands a big shot there that rocks Hunlin but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
#T2# Hunlin tries to hold on but Fry pushes him away. Fry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Fry looking to control but Hunlin is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Hunlin is in all sorts of trouble here.
Hunlin wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Fry.
Fry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Hunlin tries to get back to half guard but can't. This has been an exciting period of action! Hunlin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Hunlin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fry pulls Hunlin in to control the position. #T3##SU2# Hunlin stands and steps away. Fry gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Fry avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Fry has been working on his balance at Temp Spar Gym, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Hunlin. Hunlin throws a right and a left that Fry avoids nicely. As Hunlin backs away, Fry returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Hunlin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Fry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.#T4# Hunlin tries to clinch up but Fry circles away and keeps his distance. It looked like Fry was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Hunlin tries to clinch but Fry is having none of it. Greg Hunlin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from Hunlin. A little feinted left hand from Fry on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Hunlin shoots in looking for a takedown. Fry tries to sprawl out of it but Hunlin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fry manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Nice cross by Bon. We've been told by Hunt's head coaches at Cozad MMA Las Vegas that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Bon slaps away a takedown attempt from Hunt, before circling back to the center of the mat. Bon lands a jab to the head.
