#R1##TD2# Smith shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Smith postures up in Savage's guard and throws a big left but Savage blocks it. Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Savage gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. #REVR# Savage postures up in Smith's guard and throws a big left but Smith blocks it. Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Smith wants to sweep but no luck. Smith pulls Savage in close to prevent any damage. Smith has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Savage with a flurry of punches that miss. Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Savage postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Savage throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Savage throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Smith works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Savage loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. #T1# Savage throwing strikes from guard but Smith blocks nicely. Savage could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Savage missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Savage distracts Smith with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Smith looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Savage with a flurry of punches that miss. Savage might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Savage. Savage throws a big right hand that misses. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.#CL# Savage closes the distance and pushes Smith back into the cage.#TD2# Smith is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Savage can't fight it off and eventually Smith manages to take the fight to the floor. Savage looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Savage is trying to control the position from the bottom.
#T2# Savage is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Smith is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Savage can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Smith controls the pace. Savage wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment. #SUB# Smith lying in Savage's guard like a wet fish here, stalling away. Savage decides he's had enough of all that nonsense - he escapes his hips and locks up an armbar! Wow, that was slick! Smith taps! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
