Drakko is looking to regain half guard here but Gilliam keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Drakko keeps trying to improve his position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Drakko wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Gilliam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. #R1##TD2# Risdon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gilliam's half guard. Gilliam is trying to control but can't.
Gilliam makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gilliam. Gilliam trying to keep a closed guard but Risdon is proving a slippery customer.
Risdon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.#SUB# Risdon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gilliam has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Risdon has managed to get both his arms back between Gilliam's legs - danger averted.#SUB# Risdon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Makrovin stops Norton from standing up. Makrovin's corner is telling him to maintain position.#SU2# Makrovin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. #TD2# Makrovin gets a double leg takedown into Norton's guard.#ES# Norton scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Kemp is looking to stand up but Donte won't let him. Kemp has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gilliam has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jackson's face.
