#R1# Nieves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nieves really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.#TD2# God drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. God throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nieves works some decent striking defense from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. God not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A combination from Nieves does no damage. God is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. God has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.#SUB2# God tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. God remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. #T3##SU2# God stands up and beckons Nieves to his feet. God misses with a kick to the body and Nieves counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.#TD2# God shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. God showed some decent athleticism there. #ES# Nieves kicks off God and gets to his feet. Nieves fails with a takedown attempt. #T4# God fails with an attempt to clinch.
#TD2# God gets the takedown into side control. #ES# Nieves sneaks out the side door and pushes God away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. God looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Nieves is trying to escape back to his feet but God uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Nieves wants to control but God postures up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Dante Nieves will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. #R2# God lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
