Newman was covering up waiting for the punch and Simpson finishes the takedown easily into guard. #ES2# Newman kicks Simpson off and gets to his feet. #CL2# The fight moves into the clinch position.#BC# Simpson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Newman misses with a takedown #CL# and Simpson counters by moving into the clinch. #TD# Simpson gets control of Newman 's arms and successfully pulls guard. Simpson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Newman won't allow Simpson to get back to his feet. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Newman trying to move into half guard but instead Simpson has managed to sweep!#REVR# A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Simpson accidentally thumps the mat. #R1# Talbert walks into a straight right hand from Archer.#CUT2# It looks like Eric Talbert has been cut. Archer darts in and out, connecting with a jab. #CL2# Archer clinches. Talbert missing with knees to the body.
Archer digs a right hand underneath Talbert's ribcage. Talbert let out a lung full of air as it connected. Talbert goes for a takedown attempt but Archer pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Archer thuds a left hand into Talbert's body. Talbert tries a head kick but it misses.
Archer scores with a nice strike. Archer drops Talbert with a straight right hand, right on the button! Archer follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonathan Archer! During a confident post fight interview, Jonathan Archer thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.

Castaneda slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. #SUB2# Hummer has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Castaneda is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Hummer. Hummer is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Castaneda taking a breather here. Castaneda has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hummer is looking to regain half guard here but Castaneda keeps moving and retains side control. #T1# Hummer seems a little lost for a moment, as Castaneda dominates the positioning.#SUB# Castaneda is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hummer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Hummer tries to bench press Castaneda off him but Castaneda keeps the position. Castaneda controlling the position. Hummer wants to control but Castaneda postures up.#T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Castaneda cracks Hummer with an elbow. That is naaassty. Castaneda is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Castaneda seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Hummer for as long as he can get away with.
