Jim is trying to force a seperation but Chaney has the dominant position. Chaney drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chaney gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Chaney is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Jim pulls him back up using the underhooks. Jim wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Chaney has him pressed against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Chaney wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Chaney. That's going to take a lot out of him. Chaney tries a knee to the head but Jim blocks it.
Chaney jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Jim walks away with a smile on his face. Bautista postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bautista is looking to work some ground and pound but Shonen has wrist control. Bautista has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Bautista with a flurry of punches that miss. Bautista content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. #SUB# Bautista thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. #SUB2# Shonen has his feet on Bautista's thighs here. He's pushed Bautista off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Bautista screams in pain and taps out! Bautista tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Spencer was well out of range. Poor timing from Bautista. Spencer tries to counter with a clinch but Bautista shakes him off and moves away. Bautista takes a swing at Spencer's ribcage but misses. #TD2# Spencer is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bautista's half guard. Bautista is controlling Spencer's position as best he can from this difficult position. #R1# A telegraphed takedown attempt from Wilcox is defended easily by Robbins. A little feinted left hand from Robbins on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. We've been told by Robbins's head coaches at Mentor Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Wilcox works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Robbins dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Isai Wilcox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.#KD# Robbins lands a left and a right that send Wilcox crashing to the mat, dazed. Robbins thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!#CUT#It looks like Isai Wilcox has been cut. I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Robbins has cracked Wilcox with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Robbins lands another huge swinging hook and Wilcox tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Wilcox, before Robbins can land any more shots!
