#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carides throws a right hand that Vanperse ducks under and follows up with a left that Vanperse also avoids with ease. Sloppy strikes from Carides. Those never looked like landing. Vanperse drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Carides defends it well. Carides fails to land with a series of punches.
Carides will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Vanperse drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Carides really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Carides throws the left hand but Vanperse avoids the punch easily. Carides throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
#TD2# so Vanperse counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Vanperse slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Carides is trying to escape the position but Vanperse is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#SUB2# Vanperse has hold of Carides's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Carides seems comfortable defending it but Vanperse has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Carides is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Carides is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Vanperse couldn't care less - he's delighted!

#R1# The bell rings for round one and we are underway!#TD2# Ganjaman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Mendes is trying to escape back to his feet but Ganjaman uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Mendes is looking for a sweep. Ganjaman works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Mendes wants to get back to his feet. Ganjaman has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mendes tries to get back to half guard but can't. Sloppy strikes there by Ganjaman. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mendes is trying to buck Ganjaman off. Mendes is trying to improve his position.#T1# Ganjaman works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Mendes struggling a bit here. Nice uppercut lands for Carides. That snapped Rall's head back.
Rall swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Carides keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rall tries a head kick but it misses.
Carides defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rall. Carides misses with a two punch combination.
Rall is looking for the big counter here.#CL2# Rall clinches up with Carides and pushes him back against the cage. A frustrated look appears on Carides's face as he tries to break the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carides is trying to break free. Rall jumps guard but Carides stands there with Rall around his waist. Rall gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Dominique Sakuraba will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Phoenix postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Krasov pulls Phoenix in to control the position. Phoenix looking to control the position here, rather than advance. #SUB# Krasov working for a triangle but Phoenix defends it easily.

John is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Mendes is defending well. John lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. John tries to score a body lock takedown but Mendes shows good agility there to stay on his feet.#BC2# John manages to break the clinch.
John throws a big shot that misses. A combination from Mendes does no damage. Mendes misses with a double jab.

Mendes is looking to break free of the clinch but John has double underhooks. John keeps control of Mendes as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Mendes takes a shot to the head. John lands a body shot. John digs a right hand into Mendes's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Mendes's gas tank. Mendes is breathing heavily. Mendes has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. A short left from John. John lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Mendes or not. Chaiyawan putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Sullivan in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Sullivan is looking to control Chaiyawan's arms but Chaiyawan gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sullivan has his back to the cage. Sullivan tries to break free but Chaiyawan pushes him back against the cage. Sullivan landing knees to the body.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A battle for position here, against the cage. Chaiyawan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Sullivan gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Sullivan has had enough of the clinch but Chaiyawan keeps him there for the moment. Chaiyawan jumps guard but Sullivan stands there with Chaiyawan around his waist. Chaiyawan gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Chaiyawan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Chaiyawan misses with a takedown attempt - Sullivan sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Both fighters are breathing heavily.#T3# Sullivan darts in looking for a takedown but Chaiyawan gets double underhooks and turns Sullivan into the cage. Sullivan blocks a head kick by Chaiyawan.

Sullivan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Chaiyawan but Chaiyawan pushes him off and we're back to square one. Sullivan Sullivan seems to be getting the better of the standup. Sullivan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Chaiyawan shoots for a double leg takedown but Sullivan sprawls well. He's pushed Chaiyawan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. #T4# Chaiyawan fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Sullivan is looking for the big counter here. Horrible takedown attempt by Chaiyawan or perhaps it was just good defense by Sullivan, which made it look bad. Despite the aggression on Sullivan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. No luck with that takedown attempt from Sullivan. Sullivan cracks Chaiyawan with a good jab. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sullivan. Kavi Chaiyawan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chaiyawan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
