The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from ZOldick. No joy for Makkonen on that attempt. #CL2#
Makkonen has ZOldick up against the cage in a clinch.
ZOldick is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Makkonen pulls him back up using the underhooks. #BC#
ZOldick breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Makkonen. #CL#
ZOldick closes the distance and clinches.
A frustrated look appears on ZOldick's face as he tries to break the clinch. #TD#
ZOldick tightens his grip and picks Makkonen up, before dumping him to the ground. Makkonen manages to land in guard.
ZOldick controlling from the top position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makkonen wants to get back to his feet but ZOldick is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Makkonen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Makkonen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with ZOldick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#T1#

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
ZOldick darts in trying to clinch
and Makkonen connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.#TD2#
ZOldick gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Makkonen to score an easy takedown into full guard.
ZOldick is trying to control the position but Makkonen postures up.
ZOldick keeping moving, preventing Makkonen from controlling successfully. #SUB#
ZOldick is looking to cinch up a triangle. Makkonen throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to ZOldick's body to avoid the submission. ZOldick has instead reached around Makkonen's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! ZOldick arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
