Vermicelli fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Bateman has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
We've been told by Vermicelli 's head coaches at Elite Island Training that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Corn looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Bateman misses with the combination.
Corn throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bateman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Corn takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Bateman shoots for a double leg takedown but Corn sprawls well. He's pushed Bateman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
