Gill preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gill is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sup preventing the sweep. Sup in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sup trying to control but Kobzev is working from the bottom. Kobzev working a defensive guard here.
Sup throwing strikes from guard but Kobzev blocks nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sup works a leg free and moves into half guard. Kobzev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sup. Sup stops Kobzev from getting back to his feet.
Sup throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Sup looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kobzev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.#T1# Sup seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kobzev does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Sup looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Sup throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Sup has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Sup wants to control but Kobzev is keeping him busy. Kobzev wants to improve his position but Sup is controlling well.
