Matthews goes for a takedown attempt but Lakes pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Jonathan Lakes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randle Matthews. #R1# Plenkins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mora as he jumps to the side. Plenkins uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Plenkins throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Plenkins. Mora feinted with a counter takedown. Mora moves in looking to clinch but Plenkins pushes him off. Plenkins changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Mora misses with a body shot.
Plenkins throws a right and a left that both miss. Plenkins shoots for a double leg takedown but Mora sprawls well. He's pushed Plenkins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Lui Mora has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rowlin Plenkins. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mora misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Plenkins.
#TD# Plenkins gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mora to score an easy takedown into full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mora accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. #T1# Mora seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Mora postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Mora trying to control but Plenkins is working from the bottom. Mora scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Plenkins can't keep his opponent in guard - Mora advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Mora in particular looking to stall.#SUB2# Plenkins looking for submissions off his back. Mora trying to control the pace. Mora slips a nice elbow through Plenkins's hands, connecting with Plenkins's forehead. Mora has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.#T2# Mora stalling. Mora lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Plenkins quite badly. Plenkins pulls Mora in close trying to recover. Mora postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Plenkins on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Plenkins doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lui Mora! Lui Mora was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed. |

Lazor is trying to drag Kronenberg to the mat but Kronenberg just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alwin Kronenberg will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.#R3# Lazor takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Lazor. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Kronenberg comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Lazor fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Kronenberg is looking to wear down Lazor with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Kronenberg connects with a body shot that sends Lazor's belly button to the back. Kronenberg connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Lazor tumbling to the canvas! Kronenberg pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Lazor was done - good stoppage!
