Oehman tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Mehdomedov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mehdomedov takes a little break here. Oehman wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Mehdomedov wants to control but Oehman is keeping him busy. Mehdomedov just content to control the position. Oehman tries to buck Mehdomedov off but Mehdomedov is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Oehman is working hard here to advance position. You can see the frustration on Oehman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. St Pierre shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Rand counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Rand fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
No luck for St Pierre with that takedown attempt. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Rand!
St Pierre moves in looking to clinch but Rand pushes him off. St Pierre uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Rand.
St Pierre misses with a takedown attempt - Rand sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alex St Pierre. Mehdomedov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cole is controlling him. Cole must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mehdomedov manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cole manages to get himself to full guard.
