Newman wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Man has him pressed against the cage. Man misses with a body punch.

Newman is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Man pulls him back up using the underhooks. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matt Newman. Newman ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Jones slips under a jab. Jones misses with an uppercut. Jones swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Newman let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Jones throws a sloppy body shot
#TD2# and Newman counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Newman. Newman pushing down on Jones's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Jones knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Newman on the ground. Newman thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB2# Newman is working for a submission of some sort.
Jones has a hand on Newman's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Newman takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Newman raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.#CL# Barros pushes Newman up against the cage in a clinch.#TD2# Newman pulls guard effortlessly. Barros stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Newman swivels though and keeps the full guard. Barros preventing the sweep. #SUB2# Newman throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Newman is on top in guard.
#REVB# We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Newman working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
