Hugo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hugo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hugo closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kong circles away.
Kiniiiiii Kong has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Hugo.
Hugo misses with a head kick.
It looked like Kong was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Kong counters with a nice right hand that sends Hugo toppling to the canvas! Hugo scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Kong finish him?!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hugo tries to land a front kick but Kong steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Kong went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Hugo fails with the takedown
and Kong counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Hugo out cold! What a finish! Kong is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kiniiiiii Kong!
After winning the bout, Kiniiiiii Kong thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
