and Tate counters with a lovely straight right hand! Tate has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Vancouver Island Fight Club in the buildup to the fight. Lamotta rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Lamotta has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.#T2# Lamotta misses with a shot to the body and Tate counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Juice moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.#TD# Banton gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Juice passes Banton's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Banton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.#SUB# Juice wants to work for an arm triangle but Banton is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Juice is keen to just control but Banton is a slippery customer. Juice moves nicely into side control. #SUB# Juice has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Banton is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Juice yanks on the arm and Banton is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! #R1##CL2# Baetens gets a clinch. Banton jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Baetens walks away with a smile on his face. Banton gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Banton throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Baetens steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Banton. That one must have hurt. Banton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Baetens circles away quickly and effectively. Banton misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Banton throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. #TD2# Baetens scores with a takedown into Banton's guard. Banton is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Baetens dives into side control.
