#R1# Petrov avoids a punch combination nicely.
#TD2# Petrov closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Maximus did well to prevent Petrov getting side control. Petrov not doing much here.
Petrov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Maximus knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Petrov on the ground.#T1# Maximus tries to kick Petrov off in order to stand up. Petrov Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Maximus wants to get back to his feet but Petrov drags him back down.#SUB2# Petrov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maximus, who protects the arm well. Petrov looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Maximus is avoiding damage well.
#SU2# Petrov decides to stand back up. Maximus throws a right and a left that both miss.#T2# Maximus fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Maximus moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Petrov dives in and grabs Maximus's left leg, looking for a takedown. Maximus pushes down on Petrov's head and hops out. Maximus throws a combination that misses #CL2# and Petrov counters by moving into the clinch. Petrov stalling against the cage.
Petrov goes for a takedown in the clinch but Maximus prevents it.
#BC2# Petrov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Maximus lands a head shot. This has been an exciting period of action! Maximus swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Petrov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Maximus is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Ricardo Maximus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maksim Petrov.#T3# Petrov fails to land the takedown. Petrov looks winded! Petrov looks for a takedown but Maximus sprawls well. Maximus looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Petrov is trying to counter with his kicks.#CL2# Petrov moves into the clinch successfully.
Maximus is looking to break free of the clinch but Petrov has double underhooks. Maximus looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. A frustrated look appears on Maximus's face as he tries to break the clinch. Petrov prevents Maximus from breaking the clinch.#TD2# Petrov jumps into guard, dragging Maximus to the mat.
Petrov looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Maximus postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. #T4# Maximus trying to control but Petrov is working from the bottom. #SUB2# Petrov working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maximus doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maximus manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Petrov is looking to stand up but Maximus isn't so interested in that idea. We've been informed that Petrov has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maximus postures up.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Maximus has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Petrov is proving hard to escape from. #REF3# The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Maximus uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ricardo Maximus will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!#R2# Maximus throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Petrov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Petrov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Maximus counters with a series of strikes. Petrov will be more careful next time no doubt. Petrov shoots for a takedown but Maximus saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Maximus moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Maximus looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Maximus lands a head shot. Ricardo Maximus is winning the standup battle so far. Petrov misses with the combination.
Maximus appears to be looking for a big counter. Maximus misses with a few strikes there.
Maximus with a body punch. A glancing blow. Petrov is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Petrov tries for a takedown but Maximus sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ricardo Maximus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maksim Petrov. Petrov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Petrov showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Maximus.
#T1# Maximus lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Petrov takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Maximus moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.#ROC#Petrov is rocked! Maximus connects with a body shot that sends Petrov's belly button to the back. Petrov has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Petrov is still on wobbly legs! Can Maximus finish him? Maximus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Petrov can do to turn this around? Maximus lands with a right that hurts Petrov. Petrov looks to clinch but Maximus throws a short knee that drops Petrov. This one is all over!
