Vazquez is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Sanchez presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sanchez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. #BC# Sanchez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. #CL2# Vazquez fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sanchez, pushing him back against the cage. Sanchez lands with a left to the head. Sanchez is trying to break the clinch but Vazquez has him pressed against the cage. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Sanchez takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. #TD# Sanchez drags the fight down to the ground.

Sanchez looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Sanchez is trying to maintain the position but Vazquez is very close to passing his half guard. Sanchez is trying to control the action in half guard but Vazquez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A close round but Duncan Vazquez will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vazquez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Sanchez looking to sweep here. No luck so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sanchez is working hard here to advance position. Vazquez wants to control from the top but Sanchez keeps moving. Vazquez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Sanchez with a couple of shots from the bottom there - nothing Vazquez can't handle though.

Sanchez is desperately trying to improve his position but Vazquez has a good base and remains in mount. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Vazquez lands with some strikes.#ROC2#Sanchez is rocked! Vazquez has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Vazquez lands a big shot to the head and Sanchez winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

#R1##TD2# Francis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shiranami trying to hold on to Francis's head to control him but Francis postures up.
Shiranami on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shiranami tries to get out of the position.#SUB2# Francis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Nice strikes from Francis there. Francis not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Francis works his way into side control. Shiranami tries to buck Francis off but Francis is having none of it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Shiranami struggling a bit here. Check out the look on Francis's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Shiranami has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Francis is proving hard to escape from. Shiranami is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Shiranami tries to free his leg and advance position but Francis is retaining full guard. #T4# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Shiranami trying to control the position from guard on top but Francis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Shiranami stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Francis swivels though and keeps the full guard. #REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.#CL2# Francis pushes Shiranami up against the cage in a clinch.#TD# Francis is fighting off a takedown attempt but Shiranami is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Francis to the mat. Francis regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Shiranami working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Francis's head. Francis tries to land a sweep but no joy. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Francis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Shiranami pushes down on Francis's leg and manages to get into half guard. Shiranami controlling the action here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Hayato Shiranami will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!#R2##CL# Shiranami clinches with his opponent.

Shiranami has momentary wrist control but Francis slips an elbow through the middle. Francis passes Shiranami's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Shiranami is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#SUB2# Francis has hold of Shiranami's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Shiranami tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Francis cranks the arm and Shiranami screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Shiranami, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
