St. Clair tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. St. Clair has a couple of punches blocked by Gooding.
Gooding gets through St. Clair's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Gooding is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Gooding scores with a shoulder strike. The referee is keeping an eye on Gooding - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
I was talking to Gooding's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Gooding wants a takedown but no success here.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cuba Gooding. That's going to take a lot out of him. St. Clair misses with a short punch on the inside. There ya go! There ya go! Gooding forces his way into half guard. Gooding looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Gooding's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Gooding is looking to advance position but St. Clair won't allow it. St. Clair is looking for a sweep. Gooding is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Gooding is controlling the pace.

Gooding seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down St. Clair for as long as he can get away with. And that is the end of the round. #R1# Qwerty fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Long manages to avoid it. Nice shot by Qwerty. We've been told by Qwerty's head coaches at Punchin N\' Chockin that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Long avoids the body shot from Qwerty.
Qwerty throws a jab but it's blocked by Long. Long clobbers Qwerty with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Qwerty fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Long on the side of the head. Qwerty takes a jab right on the kisser.

letting Barkley counter with a right hand. #TD2# Leeuwenhoek scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Leeuwenhoek looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Barkley's coaches at Sydney Top Team have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Leeuwenhoek advances to mount. #T1# Leeuwenhoek sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. #R1# A clash of legs there as Kai blocks the low kick. A little jabbing left from Kai on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Horton checks the leg kick nicely there.
Kai looks to land a left hand but Horton moved out of range nicely. Horton drops down looking for a counter takedown but Kai sprawls and moves away. Horton lands with a kick to the ribs.
Kai misses with a wild body shot. Kai has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Kai misses with a series of wild punches.
Kai lands a head kick. Horton smiles back at him and beckons him forward. Kai misses with a looping left. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Horton moves out of range of the body kick. Kai does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Horton changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Horton seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Horton is looking to slow Kai down with leg kicks. Barkley appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Mandiang looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Mandiang looks to score with a jab to the body but Barkley is just out of range. Barkley digs a good hook to Mandiang's body.

Janowski tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Long is trying to force a seperation but Janowski has the dominant position. We've been informed that Kai has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
