October 2nd, the date of Just Fightsâ second event, Bantamweight Brawl. 381 in attendance at the Micro Arena in London, England. Our merchandise partner, Squirrel Sportswear, in attendance as well as we move on to the first fight of the evening.
Rylan Mayo vs Owen Wall, both looking for a much needed victory. Rylan Mayo is the bigger of the two, looks to outweigh Wall by at least 40 pounds. This fight didnât make it past the first round, both fighters getting in their licks though. The standup game went back and forth for a few minutes before Mayo managed to get Wall off his feet, looking to work his ground game. He landed a double leg right into half guard where he secured an arm and locked up a kimura for the victory!
Winner, after 3:56 in Round 1, Rylan Mayo!
The second fight of the night, between middleweight contenders Nikolas âThe Hitmanâ Holt, and Jordan Conley. Fighting over bragging rights at this point, the two men squared off, with round one containing plenty of clinch work from the two. Conley, known for this so far, and called out on it by Holt on social media, engaged in a clinch about 30 seconds into the fight. He pushed Holt up against the cage but got turned and pushed against the cage himself shortly after. Holt took control and went to work with strikes, with Conley trying to surprise him by jumping guard and failed, Holt smiling and walking off. Some striking, and more clinch work later, and Holt walks back to his corner at the bell the round winner. The next two rounds were more of the same, Holtâs prophecy coming true, with him controlling the fight and inflicting more damage in the clinch. Round 3 eventually went to the ground thanks to a takedown from Conley, but it wasnât long before Holt swept him and started working for submissions. The end of the round came and thus the end of a rather lackluster fight.
Winner by decision, Nikolas Holt!
The third fight of the night ended with fireworks, not leaving the first round either! Emerson Gomez vs Honore Nazaire Rey. Striker vs BJJ specialist, it was only going to end one of two ways and it was Rey that walked away the victor. Rey opened a cut on the face of Gomez and then proceeded to pick him apart before dropping him with an uppercut. Looking for the finish, Rey dove in like a madman and flattened Gomez with a massive shot! Honore Nazaire Rey by Knockout!
Winner by KO(Strikes), Honore Nazaire Rey!
Our first of two Bantamweight division fights tonight, between Ross Moon and Kino Martinez, resulted in our second decision tonight. These two boxers put on a hell of a show, standing and throwing bombs all night. Each one of them got caught with a big shot at many different points in the fight. Martinez started to take over and land the more effective shots and even managed to land a takedown in the third round to cement his victory even more. Martinez outclassed and outperformed Moon all night and took home the decision win!
Winner, by Unanimous Decision, Kino Martinez!
The Main Event of the Night, our first event where we crown our first champion, Mikael Li and Desmond Rodriguez faced off in the Bantamweight division! Li doesnât need a second invitation, he takes Rodriguez right to the ground and isolated another arm. Heâs going to add championship gold to his collection to go along with his victimâs arms as he wins with a vicious Kimura, again! Mikael Li is your new Bantamweight Champion!
