SHORT PREVIEW OF MAIN CARD
Welcome back to beautiful Rio de Janeiro and the home of Guerriero Luta Liga Vale Tudo Fighting. This is the 3rd event for the promotion and after the debacle last time with the air conditioning they have upgraded to the other side of the city to the Hard Knocks Arena. The crowd will be rowdy as usual, as I can already see two men going at it for the last Dr. Pepper from the concessions....geesh, whats wrong with the beer!
Tonights card is loaded with 10 outstanding fights, but the biggest part is the 3 title fights lined up! Lets take a quick look below to see the lineup.
Siva "The Samoan Legacy" Tavau vs. Mike Murhaa
Marcelo "A Cascavel" Santiago vs. Roger Dos Oliviera
Peter Barnkvist vs. Dickie Murphy
Maximus Ragnarsson vs. Dakota "Gamebred" Bohi
Frank "Kumate" Dux Jr vs. Bartlomiej "The Pirate" Szymuszowski
LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Edgar Mendoza vs. "Lord" Bishop Taylor
Mendoza (12-5-1) is a KO Artist and has championship experience as the former Sydney Fighting League Lightweight Champion. He was on a skid as of late, but has rebounded with two consecutive victories. Having a title and the experience definitely gives him the advantage for this fight.
Bishop Taylor (1-3) must have won a golden ticket from Willy Wonka to get this fight as he is on a 3 fight losing streak and does not have near the experience as Mendoza. This should be a cupcake fight for Mendoza.
MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Lucas "Machine" Vasquez vs. Roberto Rocha
Vasquez has all of his 5 wins by submission, hence the nickname "Machine". There is no doubt he is a one dimensional fighter, although no one has been able to stop him.
Rocha is 3-1 and has come over from the World Fighting Championship. Rocha has a purple belt in bjj, but also has a stand up game as well, we will see if Rocha can neutralize Vasquez's ground game and implement his stand up.
FEATHERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
Albert DeSalvo vs. Jacob Hardy
DeSalvo is a submission artist, but has no KO power. He is well traveled and a former champion of Just Bleed. He also tends to lose those close fights too often, in which all of his losses are by decision. He has the talent to win, but does he have the heart to get through a close fight and make it his?
Hardy is also a former champion of Strikeforce Union. He does have KO power as was demonstrated when he almost decapitated Pit Miles in 5 seconds of his last fight. Hardy is also a purple belt in bjj, so if this fight does hit the mat he has the skills to offset DeSalvo. I would assume that being the more skilled and dangerous fighter, Hardy will want to not go down and use his dangerous Muay Thai and Boxing to destroy him before it goes that far.
There you have it folks, a short but sweet preview of the event and hoping that they get more Dr. Pepper to the concessions, maybe we can get those two idiots earlier in there to fight it out Vale Tudo Style for it?
