Peeling back the layers with "Peel Steel"

Editorial by

Peeling back the layers, with Peel Steel, creator of "Immortals New York".

An interview with Dean Holliday

Dean Holliday: Peel, how long have you been involved in MMATycoon?
Since August 2011, as I was previously a manager on the web league boxing game, vivi, which crashed and burned. Boxing was my first love, having seen Lennox Lewis defeat Razor Ruddock at Earls Court, Lewis fight Bruno in Cardiff, Tyson fight Francis in Manchester. However, my greatest experience was the Thomas & Mack Centre in Vegas, when I saw Lewis beat Tucker, but the undercard contained McLellan versus Jackson, which was an awesome war, and the great Julio Cesar Chavez beat Terence Ali. After my career in boxing management came to end, and my interest in MMA was growing through the UFC being televised in the UK, I saw a forum recommending MMA Tycoon.

I started, and promptly got my ass kicked, went 2-9 and then our camp slowly turned it around.
I am at best average now, by reading the forum and liaising with alliance mates you can learn so much. We have won 3 org titles, so we do OK, but I have only bettered a top manager on one occasion, and even then I had help from one of his peers, in what i would describe as the elite group of managers. Even then we had to get lucky, and did, with less than one minute left in the 5th round.

Dean Holliday: How many ventures are you currently involved with?
I run the Immortals New York org for 150k + ID fighters, although the 265+ is 170k, and the 135lbers are 190k +.

HERO 22: Rudd vs Todorov

Prelims

Lightweight Division: Joonas Muikku vs Igor Byhenikov

Muikku used a variety of kicks to take the first two rounds, while Byhenikov came back late with a strong third round, controlling the action with boxing. Unfortunately, he didn't get the finish that he needed to overcome Muikku's lead. Result: Muikku by unanimous decision

Featherweight Division: Jose Aldo vs Joao Oliveira

Oliveira showed a great chin, surviving four early head kicks. He knew he couldn't sustain that, so he took the fight to the ground, where he held a distinct advantage. He quickly moved to side control and went for a finish. After the fight, Oliveira called for a title

4K.36 : Retale vs. Tapout! PREVIEW

Salutations fight fans. K-Rad here and you won't believe what happened to me today. I came home from work (read: drinking slurpee and checking out the sweet teets that walk down the mall in the middle of town) and all of my cheetos had been eaten and "Purple Haze" was on endless repeat on my CD player. I suspect there are still further things for me to discover, like why the water in my fish tank has taken on a greenish tinge and my fish now eat three times as much food but that will have to wait until I give you the run down of 4K.36: Retale vs. Tapout! There are some massive names on these cards, both figuratively and literally as it seems the Finns and the Poles are conspiring against me to cause an aneurysm as I attempt to pronounce their names. Apart from tongue twisters we have a Lightweight title on the line which the 3000 fans expected to turn up to Hard Knocks in Amsterdam are salivating over. Let's take a peek at the rest of the fights in the main card:

 CEC 222: Altercation Preview

145lbs : Le Petit Criss v Kenneth Lucas

Cris makes his debut here against a fighter that is 0-1 in CEC. He arrives with a good record but the majority of his career has been spent in Canada, he knows how to finish a fight and can do so by knockout or submission. Lucas had a disappointing start to his CEC run, knocked out in under half a minute, he knows he needs to improve on that and now is as good a time as any. Criss has the advantage standing and is also slightly better on the ground, Lucas will need to use his wrestling superiority wisely and ensure if it goes to ground he defends well.

155lbs : Balu Baluu v Gerard Mullins

Baluu has looked good in his two outings since his arrival here as he has earned solid decision wins in each, this may prove to be a trickier fight though when he goes up against a wrestler that has the ability to get him to the ground and keep it there. Mullins has had mixed success going 2-2 in CEC, he is a decision machine with 13 of his 16 overall record wins going the distance. Baluu obviously knows how to earn a decision too and this one could go to the wire.

BOOOOM!

Ganja went ALL OUT this time!! Please read the epic review of the biggest event in 4K history from the link below:

Recap by Ganja Man.

GANJA SO FLY!!! It's ya boy, ya main man and the crush of all ya girlfriends. Ganja here! Joining you live from mi basement where I just finished tearing through a six pack of beer, two pepperoni pizzas and an ounce of the finest Amsterdam ganja money can buy. Four Kings did it again people! I thought Dee was crazy for setting up this tournament but it seems like it's just what this org needed. Nothing attracts the crowd like a main card full of heavyweight action, tonight was no exception. We tore it up here at the Res Light, the biggest venue to ever host a Four Kings event. We just keep breaking our records! Their was a full house here, ten thousand four hundred screaming fans. That shit actually got annoying after a while... But anyways, ya didn't come here to listen to me complain. You came for a recap and that's what you'll be getting! Let's review the fights, shall we?

Main Event:

Jorge "The Damager" Aquino (8-0) Vs. "The Alabama Alpha Male" Bobby Lee Daniels (9-1) HOLY MOTHER OF GANJA!!! This is the fight we've all been waiting for. No doubt the winner would get a title shot. A former champion taking on the promotional newcomer. The heavy handed former champ, Bobby Lee Daniels, was looking to return to the top of the mountain after losing his title. Jorge Aquino is a monster, I mean seriously the guy is kinda scary. We've seen our champions put fear into their opponents hearts, but Aquino takes it to a whole new level. Daniels didn't look so good in his last outing, who am I kidding? He got knocked out in five seconds but I personally think it was just a lucky shot. Daniels no doubt would be returning with more hunger in his heart, for the belt I mean. The usual hunger he feels is for corn-dogs. Both guys came in to fight, there was no doubt about that. Aquino is a sniper, his boxing is world class and his hands are some one the deadliest I've ever seen. That's really saying something considering Daniels has the heaviest hands in Four Kings. Aquino simply out work the champ, he was way too accurate and way to technical for Daniels. Bobby is known to come out looking for the KO punch early in the first, it just wasn't there this time. Aquino easily dodged Daniel's wide shots an countered with his own. Aquino battered the

BDU 126 Preview

Event Preview: BDU 126
Sydney Fight Championship
2012-08-04, Hilo, Hula's

This report is brought to you by Andy Sim(as Hustler D).

FW: "Pretty Pete" Peter Parker(16-7) vs Siduri Rafter(18-10)

Two former Reach fighters is opening for BDU 126 and the stack is higher than usual because this is the second match between both fighters. In Reach 76, Rafter showed his ground game to the world and pounded Parker into a TKO. With that said, Parker's key factor in this one is his takedown defense. If he cannot hold off against the takedowns, then history will repeat itself and he won't be pretty anymore. I think Parker is banking on the clinch for this one.

Prediction: Rafter, decision.

LHW: Les Grossman(16-10-1) vs "Killer" Kyle Mortis(23-12-1, 3-5-1 BDU)

Mortis continues to fail under pressure and he needs another win to reset his journey. Grossman really isn't someone you would like to face on a recovery phase thanks to his sickening wrestling and long-lasting pressure with boxing. Mortis is outclassed in almost any place so a tactical brilliance is much needed for him.

Prediction: Grossman, KO.

LW: Ty Angle(19-19) vs Benton Styles(15-6-1, 4-6-1 BDU)

Angle is a veteran but until this point of his career, has not shown any big sign for him to truly be a good star. Always challenging himself, he has no desire to drop to a lower ranking org and is happy with his performance in the larger org. BDU is as challenging as it comes and despite Styles might not be well-respected in the ladder for now, his skill isn't bad at all. A power striker himself, Styles can boss around with his level of striking but making sure that he can defend against takedowns at the same time. Once it's on the ground, Angle is a beast, as proven by his 100% submission win rate.

Prediction: Styles, KO.

Ascension 3MIL Tourney Round 3 Preview

Event Preview: Asc 3mil tourney round 3
Ascension
2012-08-04, Los Angeles, LA Memorial Colossuseum
Author:Don Frye

And its time for the 3rd round of the Ascension 3 million dollar light heavyweight tournament. With 4 of the very best light heavyweights in game headlining this card, this is a card you most certainly dont want to miss. Without further ado, lets get to the fights.

Opening Main Card Fight

McThornbody vs Batts

This fight is essntially dead even in almost every significant category, with the biggest difference being McThornbody's penchant to be finished in every fight he has lost, 4 TKO losses and 2 submission losses. Batts on the other hand has only been finished once in his career. McThornbody enters the cage with elite boxing, sensational muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt. Opposing him is Batts with his sensational boxing, elite muay thai, exceptional wrestling and a bjj brown belt as well. Both fighters have big time power in their fists with 31 combined TKO victories. In a close fight like this, who ever has the better chin may just walk away the winner. I am going with Batts in this one by TKO.

Featured Main Card bout

Eisenberg vs Manoel

We head up a couple of weight classes here as we take a break from the 205 tournament to go to our openweight division with

BFT - 126 Preview

Event Preview: BFT-126
Blunt Force Trauma
2012-08-04, Sydney, The Bridge
Author:

Heavyweight - Attila Orban (12-4) [BFT 2-0] vs Rooster "True Grit" Cogburn (6-12) [BFT 2-5]

BFT's introduction to Attilla has been phenominal to date. He came in putting on a show for all the fans with his Fight of the Night performance against George Rose. There were some that were doubters of his skills though. His last 9 fights were decisions (with a no contest thrown in). What does he do to shut them up? He comes out with a first round knockout against Steve Tompkins. This guy is tough.

Cogburn has been on a bit of a skid as of recently. He's a game fighter none the less. He's had good fights against great opponents, featuring the likes of Kim Jong Dong and Pete Tippin. With 4 of his 6 wins being by knockout, he's not one to be taken lightly on the feet.

Prediction: Cogburn is tough and all... but Orban takes this one. Orban by RD 1 TKO.

Lightweight - Suchart "Fishbowl" Chaowanungkarn (15-13-1) [BFT 14-10-1] vs Mann
