First of all, hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year. I wanted to post an article about the year gone and the year upcoming, to give people a feeling of where we are headed.
2012 was a really tough year in real life with lots of time consuming problems to sort out and unfortunately that had a negative effect on the game, as I wasn’t able to spend as much time on it as I wanted/needed to. 2013 however, sees life a fair bit more settled and as a result, I hope to really get stuck in with a lot of improvements. The game has always been and will continue to be my full time job.
First off will be the new training system, combined with some improvements to the fight engine. If we can get through January without any dramas, I hope to have this done by March. I would say earlier but it’s better to be cautious on the date because this is a massive job. The new system will be less t cont...

Under 21 Tournament Final - Scotty Bennet vs Cinder Smaug
A confusingly lucrative and drawn out tournament highlighted some of Tycoons most skillful and flamboyant managers as they pitted their young gladiators against each other in hopes of claiming the whopping $2 million prize put forth by Scott Davies and his legendary organization known as Geezers Palace. As the tournament endured, historical battles took place and the grunts fought with fierce motivation. Cinder Smaug, led by the duckling Swan Song enters the final crusade with a sense of satisfaction as he was able to cure his initial hiccups and rally back with a flaming vengeance. He is an excellent striker and considers the stand up realm his chosen field of battle. Although Smaug is a specialist, he prefers to control distance when he fights and would much rather be engaging with straight punches and sharp kicks. Standing in his way is a hellish creature spawned by JLP who goes by the name of Scotty Bennet. This cont... |

The fighters of Gladiator Fighting Championship took to the cage on Saturday night to the delight of a capacity crowd at Hard Knocks Arena and scored the highest rated fight card in the org's brief history. Some of GFC's best and brightest emerged as title contenders and the organization one again proved itself to be a thriving a viable fight org in the Vegas market.
The first fight on the card was a lightweight battle pitting Anthony Kiedis (17-10-2) against Elvin Ruez (16-9). Both fighters spent the early part of the first round jockeying for positing and trying to working in and out of the clinch and attempting to take the other to the ground. With about a minute and a half gone in the round, Kiedis was able to grab the upper hand by landing a nice knee to the head from the clinch followed by a takedown. Kiedis was unable to capitalize and allowed Ruez to slow the action down to the point that the referee stood the fighters up due to lack of activity. Ruez quickly cut loose with some nice punches that stunned Kiedis and left him with a nasty cut. Ruez was able to secure the clinch on Kiedis and rock him with a mighty elbow. Ruez broke the clinch but quickly changed his mind and decided to re-engage and try to finish the fight up close. Kiedis was able to defend against Ruez's punches but soon ate a pair of wicked elbows that put him on queer street. Ruez followed up with some additional punches for good measure to finish of Kiedis by TKO at the 4:53 mark of round one.
The second fight was a middleweight bout between Cris Dorh (15-9) and Maek Houzo (25-22). Houzo took the fight into the clinch almost immediately cont... |

Elijah Hoffman (4-3) vs Jon Thompson(7-5-1)
The main event of our first event features two experienced boxers, Elijah Hoffman and Jon Thompson. This one could go either way. Both men are very versed in boxing, and both hold purple belts in BJJ. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a 3 round slug fest from start to finish. This is a very important fight for both fighters, and both are looking to get back to their winnings ways. Hoffman has lost 3 of his last 4 fights, while Thompson is also coming off a fresh loss. Should be a very exciting fight!
Ali Carter(2-1) vs Chris Gale(0-0)
The co-main event of the evening is a very interesting matchup between Ali Carter and Chris Gale. Gale will be making his MMA debut, and is much more well-rounded than his opponent Carter, but you can never underestimate the power and accuracy of someone that has as deadly Muay Thai as Carter does. If it is an up-close and personal fight, Carter will take the nod, but if Gale gets ahold of him and brings him to the ground, it'll cont... |
Ace of Spades Clothing in New York annouced at the beginning of the year that their very first Ace of the Month was Gim Ruut. They recently sat down with Gim and held a Q&A so the Tycoon Universe could get to know him a little better.
AOS: You were born in Des Moines Iowa, USA, which is known more for it's wrestling, but you ended up training BJJ instead..........how did you first find out about BJJ???
GR: I've been kind of an odd guy in my childhood. I started wrestling when I was 4 years old, but never really got into it. One day a friend of my father came with a tape of the UFC 1 and I fell in love right away with it, specially the submissions. Those were things that I wouldn't practice a lot in wrestling, so I wanted to do BJJ right away. And my father got me into classes with Rodrigo, a brazilian coach that lived in Des Moines for a long time and he was my first master in it. I'm glad that I watched that tape.
AOS: Why did you choose MMA over a normal job???
