In today's issue of Showboat Magazine, we get to sit in on an interview with actor-turned-fighter Charlie Sheen who has taken an interest in the mixed martial arts.
Sheen started his career in the MMA promotion known as GFL, racking up a career record of 2-2. When asked about his mediocre tenure in the promotion, Sheen had this to say:
“It wasn't the company owner's fault at all. He didn't have a suitable welterweight division so you pretty much kept fighting the same guys ad infinitum. They kept giving me this guy Nammer Da Hammer because he and I were respectively the baddest dudes in the division. Unfortunately I was new to MMA and couldn't keep up with an experienced vet like Nammer. I beat everyone in that division not named Nammer Da Hammer. And thank god for that because that's one obnoxious name.” cont... |

BFT-186 Hard Knock Life 4
Light Heavyweight - "Money Pacman" Floyd Pacquiao knocked out Bulgelene Gossables with strikes at 3:56 in round 1.
Things started off pretty well for Pacquiao. He was able to secure a takedown quickly and worked towards a few submission attempts. He moved toward half gaurd, lands a few shots, and hops into mount! from there he rained down the ground and pound until the ref hops in. Gossables was completely out of it. Some nice power shots from Pacquiao.

GAMMA is getting close to 4 years old soon and over the years we have seen a huge amount of great fighters come and go. We are proud to pay special recognition to 4 of the greatest.
Jake White (11904)
Fought in GAMMA from 2009-06-28 till 2010-05-08
Record inside GAMMA 8-4-0
Was the first ever 205 title holder

Note: Was one of the initial Kings of the 205lbs division. He spent all his career in GAMMA. He eventually retired very early in his career, probably before he even peaked. Was always a highly reliable and significant draw in the early days.

Kon'nichiwa! For the first time ever, SPFT invades Japan. Last week we promised you 'March Madness' would be the hot phrase in these parts over the course of the next few weeks, and while SPFT 98 did not disappoint, SPFT 99 ratchets up the intensity to a whole new level. In front of a likely sold out Tokyo Bowl crowd of 42,000 spectators, twenty men will introduce a whole new level competition to the Japanese culture. When names like Gor Keyman, Willy Stoppers, Leonard Washington, and Peter Parts headline a card, you know SPFT has brought their A game.
To kick off the night, we have a bit of an old school striker vs grappler match up. The aging veteran, Gustavo Ribeiro, will be making his third appearance on the big stage against the younger Finn striker, Arvo Pentti. Ribeiro, with 35 career fights, 16 of which have been won by submission, has undoubtedly gained a lot of experience in the cage as a journeyman fighter, even winning two titles in lesser organizations. Gladiator Fighting Championship will be making its first visit in the history of the organization to the Parisian on Saturday night. After growing comfortable in the friendly confines of Hard Knocks Arena and producing multiple sell outs, GFC has decided to expand its horizons in order to attract more Las Vegas fight fans. GFC is planning to start their relationship with The Parisian with a bang, offering up a fight card chock full of incredible fights. This should be, by far, the most talent laden fight card that GFC has ever produced. Let's run down the fight card.
The first fight will be a light heavyweight matchup featuring Alexander Marius (14-10) taking on Logan Mitchell (13-9-1). Maruis enters the fight having suffered two straight losses and seeking his first win in the GFC cage. Marius is an accomplished striker who has a particular affinity for working in the clinch. He has shown glimpses of power but also has the gas tank to grind out a decision if the situation calls for it. Mitchell has reeled off two straight wins, including a jaw dropping five second knockout in his last outing. Mitchell is a very accomplished boxer with heavy hands. Both of these fighters enjoy standing toe to toe and trading leather, so this should be a barn burner.
The lightweights will be featured in the second fight when Elvin Ruez (17-9) squares off against Rocco Kailea (5-2-1). Ruez enters the fight as the more experienced fighter and has won bo cont... |
UNDER CARD
Light Heavyweight Fight
#13 Mads Rosenkilde (9-4=1, 0-0-1 NGF) v #8 Dragon Warfist (3-1-1 NGF)
This massive card got started with a fight that I previewed by saying it was too close to call and it could be in the running for the FOTN…well, these two made me look like a genius! A majority draw and it WAS the FOTN. One things for sure, Mads Rosenkilde is a fantastic fighter and a great addition to the stable of fighters in the NGF. Rosenkilde showed great quickness on his punches, stinging and cutting Dragon Warfist early. Dragon Warfist who is also a great fighter, so exciting and talented, he was tested like he’s not been so far in his early career. It was clear that Warfist was going to chop away at the legs of Rosenkilde landing 12 of 29 leg kicks, but he didn’t seem to have an answer to punches from Mads. Rosenkilde was able to land half of cont... |
