 Sucker Punch Pro Series 17

Hey everybody, I’m Hare Rumpler along with my partner and analyst Donkey “Dan” and the incomparable Suzy Sucker Punch, our media correspondent and we would very much like to welcome you to our look ahead at something very special tonight!  Or at least, I truly believe it’s going to be special!  What’s so special about it you ask?  Well, first, we’ve already started slowly migrating towards moving from our beloved Bondi Outdoor Arena to the larger Schooners Bar for many of our upcoming events.

But, on top of that, two factors have come into play that made us move tonight’s great show to the 10,000 seat capacity “The Bridge” in Sydney!  First, this card features not one, but TWO awesome title fights…Middleweight and Lightweight!  And then, well, Schooners was stolen out from under us and unavailable…and we were NOT going to go smaller for this card! Because on top of the title events, the rest of the fights on this card are absolutely outstanding…truly, this is a card to be proud of and I would probably be shocked if this doesn’t turn into our highest rated event ever!

So what else does the action include?  Well, the Hirst/Fuhren and Lannister/Piaget fights will definitely result in our next Top Contender being determined.  The reason two fights are in play for this is because Fuhren just recently fought for the title so he’s not up for the Top Contender spot right away.  However, a win for him would certainly cement his case that he should be right back I the mix within a fight or two!  But, if Hirst wins, well, he’ll be fighting for the Middleweight title in November!  If not, then Top Contender will likely be determined by the Lannister/Piaget fight!

The Marka/Vargas Welterweight fight is also another amazingly big fight on the card tonight!  This fight will very likely lead to a Top Contender battle for the winner with the winner of the Reeves/Christiano fight later this month.  Those two winners would go at it later in November and determine the next in line for a title fight in December!

Another fight that’s definitely not to be overlooked is the Haden/Shima fight in the Heavyweight division!  This one normally wouldn’t be one that is quite ready to set up a Top Contender status given Haden recently fought in a title bout and Shima is taking his first fight in the division.  But, this is a division with just a few guys clearly stacked at the top skill wise, and a large pack of very talented fighters just below that are working things out and getting ready to make runs up the ladder at a title shot.  But, not quite there.  So…you have to put somebody in line, and I’ll probably be making an exception while we continue to work things through in this division and the next Top Contender may come from this fight unless one of the pack below make a big time break for it with a breakout performance…and wants to step up to the current champ in November!

So enough with all that, clearly this is going to be hell of an exciting night!  Lots on the line, tons of great fights and just a level of energy with this extremely large venue that we’ve only seen once or twice before!  And never with a card this stacked to back it up!

The preview is up here, enjoy!
