The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Max tries to clinch there but Johnson circles away.
Max on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Max shoots in but Johnson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Johnson is looking for a counter combo.
Max looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.

Max moves into the clinch.
Max stalling in the clinch but Johnson improves position.
Johnson lands a hook to the side of the head.
Johnson lands with a short punch from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd cheers as Johnson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Max doesn't seem phased though.
Max slips a jab and a cross from Johnson.
Johnson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Max throws a lazy head kick
and Johnson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Max lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Max looks winded!
Johnson throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Max's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Johnson dives in looking to finish as Max flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Johnson's strikes! Johnson is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Max's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Max was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Winkle dives in for a single leg takedown but Savi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Sli has one foot on Luvic's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Sli lands a head kick. Luvic smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
