The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Firm blocks a low kick nicely.
Kane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Firm looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kane throws a leg kick but Firm sees it coming and moves out of range.

Firm clinches up against the cage.
Kane goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Firm gets control of Kane's arms and successfully pulls guard. Firm will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Kane is looking to stand up but Firm won't let him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kane felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Firm wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kane keeps working.
Kane is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Firm is controlling him well.

Firm swings around for an armbar but Kane sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Firm's guard.
Firm pulls Kane in close to his closed guard and prevents Kane from doing any damage or advancing position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Firm's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Firm manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Dante Firm will probably get the nod.

Chigg walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kent checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Chigg has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chad Murray (ranked 816 p4p, 114 weight class) and Oscar Boma (ranked 1410 p4p, 191 weight class). Murray comes to the cage accompanied by Dead man walking. Boma has chosen Andrew and Wada Blood - Irie as his entrance music.
