Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Hammer (ranked 6987 p4p, 506 weight class) and Magnus Hjarvardsson (ranked 3685 p4p, 361 weight class). Johnny Hammer had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 157.9lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hammer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hjarvardsson.
Hjarvardsson misses with a takedown attempt - Hammer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Hammer seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Hjarvardsson has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Hammer is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Let's hope that Hjarvardsson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hjarvardsson connects with a nice short shot to Hammer's temple.
Hammer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hjarvardsson on the ground.

We've been hearing good reports from Hammer's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
