The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hjarvardsson closes the distance and clinches.

Hjarvardsson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Hjarvardsson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Snipes, pushing him back against the cage.

Hjarvardsson has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Snipes clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Snipes is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Snipes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hjarvardsson gets his way!

Hjarvardsson is working to tighten his grip on Snipes's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Snipes has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Hjarvardsson is really squeezing tight and eventually Snipes passes out! Hjarvardsson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
