Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jean Nicholas (ranked 3310 p4p, 4536 weight class) and David Nascimento (ranked 181 p4p, 217 weight class). Nascimento has chosen I Never Walk a Easy Street as his entrance music. David Nascimento has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Nascimento!

Nascimento rushes Nicholas and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nicholas goes for a takedown in the clinch but Nascimento prevents it.

Nascimento pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nascimento tries to bum rush Nicholas with a series of wild strikes but Nicholas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Nascimento fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Nascimento throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Nicholas.
Nascimento has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Nicholas is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Nascimento shoots in and drives through. Nicholas sprawls well.
Nicholas changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've been hearing good reports from Nicholas's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Nascimento really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nicholas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Nicholas misses with a takedown attempt - Nascimento sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Nicholas stuffs the takedown attempt from Nascimento. Nascimento gets slowly back to his feet.

Nicholas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Nascimento's guard.

Nicholas lands a big shot there that rocks Nascimento but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Nicholas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Nascimento for as long as he can get away with.
Nicholas is landing with some decent strikes but Nascimento is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Oooooh, big shot lands for Nicholas! Nascimento is hurt baaadly! Nicholas is firing away with more strikes - Nascimento is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
