Kowalchuk kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Kalinka Mix. The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kowalchuk takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kowalchuk tries to clinch up.
Carter with the counter takedown but Kowalchuk avoids it easily.
Kowalchuk tries to close the distance and clinch up but Carter swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Carter tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Carter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Kowalchuk sprawls well initially but Carter persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Kowalchuk is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Carter pulls his head out easily.
Carter lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Kowalchuk looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Carter pushes past his half guard into mount!
Kowalchuk is in a horrible position here. Carter smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Carter cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Carter wants to control the pace but Kowalchuk is squirming around nicely.

Kowalchuk takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Carter connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Carter lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Kowalchuk is rocked!
Kowalchuk tries to reverse the position but Carter maintains control.
Oh Kowalchuk is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Carter really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kowalchuk . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
