Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jiri Sayonara (ranked 176 p4p, 22 weight class) and Fujiwara Tsuyoshi (ranked 470 p4p, 52 weight class). Sayonara's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Edge Of The Blade. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jiri Sayonara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fujiwara Tsuyoshi!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tsuyoshi pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Tsuyoshi instigates a clinch.
Sayonara tries for a takedown. No joy.
Tsuyoshi misses with an elbow strike.
Tsuyoshi misses with a hook to the ribs.
Sayonara tries to score a body lock takedown but Tsuyoshi shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Tsuyoshi goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Sayonara has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Tsuyoshi regains guard immediately.
Sayonara postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sayonara trying to control but Tsuyoshi is working from the bottom.
Tsuyoshi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Tsuyoshi bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sayonara's guard.

Sayonara has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Sayonara is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Tsuyoshi has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Sayonara is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Sayonara misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tsuyoshi tries to clinch up.
Sayonara takes a swing at Tsuyoshi's ribcage but misses.
Tsuyoshi scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Sayonara is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Sayonara throws a hook but Tsuyoshi avoids it easily.

Tsuyoshi tries to sprawl but Sayonara drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tsuyoshi is looking for a sweep. Sayonara is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Tsuyoshi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Tsuyoshi.
Tsuyoshi is pulling down on Sayonara's head to control his posture.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sayonara accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sayonara really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Tsuyoshi seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Fujiwara Tsuyoshi will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Sayonara takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Tsuyoshi throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Sayonara.

Sayonara shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tsuyoshi napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Tsuyoshi can't do much from the bottom here.
Tsuyoshi tries to buck Sayonara off but Sayonara is having none of it.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tsuyoshi manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Tsuyoshi is staying active underneath Sayonara, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sayonara thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Tsuyoshi's head.
Tsuyoshi is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sayonara sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Tsuyoshi is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Tsuyoshi wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Sayonara.

Tsuyoshi tries to hold on but Sayonara pushes him away.
Tsuyoshi is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Sayonara is staying active.

Tsuyoshi bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Sayonara is looking to cinch up a triangle. Tsuyoshi throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sayonara's body to avoid the submission. Sayonara has instead reached around Tsuyoshi's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sayonara arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
