Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darth Bo (ranked 3455 p4p, 379 weight class) and Apollo Reid (ranked 5479 p4p, 558 weight class). Reid is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Living in America by James Brown. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reid throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reid throws a head kick that misses
and Bo counters with a left and a right that stings Reid.
Bo will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bo lunges at Reid with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Reid's hand.

Bo tries to keep at a distance but Reid has taken the fight into the clinch.
Bo tries to pull guard but Reid won't allow it.
Bo is looking to take this one to the mat.
Reid misses with a hook to the ribs.
Bo wants a takedown but no success here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reid lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Reid stands and steps away. Bo gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Reid has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Bo jumps guard but Reid turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bo jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Reid walks away with a smile on his face. Bo gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Whack! Reid lands a heavy head kick that drops Bo. The ref tackles Reid to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Bo was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Apollo Reid!
