PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Wayde West (ranked 3944 p4p, 123 weight class) and Rock Machine (ranked 4132 p4p, 128 weight class). West comes into the arena with Sober blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Machine's choice of entrance music: Hell Yeah. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 17 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rock Machine!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machine walks forward, straight into a front kick from West.
West tries to land a front kick but Machine steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Machine takes one to the side of the head.
Machine misses with a looping left.
Machine cracks West with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Machine avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Machine pulls out of a head kick attempt.
West avoids a punch combination nicely.
Machine swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
West tries to clinch but Machine is having none of it.
Machine throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Machine looks to land a right hand but West moved out of range.

West misses with an uppercut.
West pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Machine takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Machine loads up on a big right hand but West slips the punch.

West moves into the clinch successfully.

Machine breaks the clinch.
Machine misses with a straight left.
West ducks under a wild hook from Machine.
West throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Machine.
West scores with a head kick.
Machine throws a combination but it was largely blocked by West.
Machine connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
West takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

It looks like Wayde West has been cut.
Machine throws an off balance right hand
and West counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Machine throws a hook to the side of West's head but West sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
West fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Machine manages to avoid it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Machine has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Machine lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Machine misses with a looping right.
West fails in his attempt to clinch.
It seemed like Machine was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

West moves into range and clinches up with Machine.
Machine swings wildly with an uppercut but West uses good head movement to avoid it.
Machine creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through West's defenses.

Machine breaks from the clinch.
Machine lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Machine lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A big right from Machine misses.

and West counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by West.
West is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.

West breaks the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Machine misses with a looping left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rock Machine will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Machine slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
West takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Machine throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by West.

West avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Machine bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of West's head.

West fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Machine, pushing him back against the ropes.
Machine wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

West manages to break the clinch.

West drives through and clinches with Machine against the ropes.

West is looking to break free of the clinch but Machine has double underhooks.
Machine looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Machine wants to break free but West has control.
Machine pushes West back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.

West breaks the clinch.
West takes one on the chin but seems OK.

West rushes Machine and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Donk. Machine catches West right on the button with a cross.
Machine listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

West is rocked!
West moves in looking to clinch but Machine pushes him off.
It seemed like Machine was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Oh West is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Machine lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
West checks the leg kick.
West throws a big counter combination but Machine scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Machine connects with a jab.
A nice leg kick lands there from Machine.
Machine tries to score with a low kick but West moves his leg out of the way.
Machine pulls out of a head kick attempt.
West tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Machine manages to circle out of the way.
Machine staggers West with a jab and knocks him down with a follow up straight! West looks in trouble, will he beat the count?! The count has reached 5 and he's only back to 1 knee - it's going to be close! 6,7,8 - he's up! No! He's back down again! 9...10 - he's can't beat the count and Machine is victorious!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Rock Machine!
Our winner, Rock Machine, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
